May networking event with the Sutton United Business Club

By May 25, 2017 No Comments

Monday lunch time saw our bi-monthly networking event, kindly hosted by long standing Business Club partner, The Holiday Inn – Sutton. With over 65 guests booked to attend there was a fabulous mix of local companies represented, with a variety of B2B and business to consumer brands represented.

The event followed our standard format, with informative presentations given to the audience.

Our first was Tawana Cushine – Spirit Health Club Assistant Manager The Holiday Inn, and she spoke to the group to raise awareness of the Health Club and corporate membership offers.

Our Keynote speaker Manisha Tailor who is a former deputy head teacher now using football and education to empower young people and tackle mental health stigma, we gained an insight into her story and the moving reasons behind what she does to promote football to those with mental health issues, all inspired by her brother’s journey.

Paul Smith of Fenchurch Insurance Brokers then followed, they are independent advisors providing advice & solutions for any company or people wanting friendly tailor made insurance solutions. Paul updated us all on all the latest developments and things to consider when seeking insurance.

This was then followed by Diamond Distribution, aiming to be Croydon and Sutton’s Logistics Company of choice for all transport and logistical needs.

We then heard from Alan Sellers, a Business Coach and Marketing Consultant for Owadally and King accountants in Croydon, he provided an update on HMRC Making Tax Digital and how you can make sure you don’t get caught out.

Amy Bradley and John Hope of Utilita Business Energy then gave us an understanding of how they differ from their competition, how they provide customers with a fairer energy deal, focusing on small to medium businesses allowing customers to be in control.

Our final speaker was Aaron O’Malley of Gowen and Stevens, who spoke about issues within the family law landscape which may affect people who run or have an interest in a business.

We then had informal networking over a delicious hot and cold buffet style lunch, it was great to see so many businesses connecting.
