For avid blog followers you will remember our post announcing the support GreenGo Waste were giving to the Sutton United FC elite full-time football academy. The launch of the partnership can be found on our blog post.

Wednesday saw the Academy’s first game in their newly branded kit taking on Leatherhead at Gander Green Lane.

The players were carefully selected from a number of football trials at Nescot College (Epsom), throughout the summer to make up the 2015/16 elite playing squad.

These students study at Nescot, during the morning, Monday – Friday. And, be based at Sutton United (The Borough Sports Ground), during the afternoon, Monday – Friday. With competitive Leagues matches on Wednesday afternoons, between early September to late April/early May, depending of both League and Cup successes.

They welcomed spectators and sponsors Malcolm and James Boyle of GreenGo Waste where they were presented with their own playing shirts, unfortunatley Malcolm and James’s shirt is not for playing purposes as they slightly exceed the age limit for the team!

Unfortunately the score was not in the Academy’s favour, with the team narrowly losing 3-4 however it was a well played match and the boys look forward to hositng Chesham United next Wednesday.

Thank you to Malcolm, James and the team at GreenGo Waste for their support.
