Monday evening saw Sutton United open their new 3G pitch with a ceremony and ribbon cutting performed by Alan Pardew from Crystal Palace after a few words and warm welcome from Sutton United Chairman Bruce Elliot accompanied by regular at Sutton United Tim Vine and professional boxer Ricky Boylan.
Despite the weather over 1,500 people turned up to the highly anticipated game, fielding a strong side it was set to be quite a match and Sutton didn’t disappoint. Despite a final score of 2-0 the fans were given a good show and the new 3G pitch seemed to fair well – it did seem strange to see clean kits coming off the pitch despite the wet conditions.
The match was sponsored by Banstead Downs Golf Club, our principal shirt sponsor, the new kit was unveiled and launched at the game, big thanks to Sutton United for Abbotts Group mini apprentice’s shirt and the opportunity to be mascot at the game – something he really did enjoy and appreciate and has gone off to school on a massive high.
Before kick off the Sutton United Pan Disabilty team also had the chance to have a squad picture proudly taken on the new pitch. For more information on the team please check out our previous blog
